Updates on Our Every Saturday Blitz Chess Tournament At Giant Tampoi, JB

Our regular club players participated in the Blitz Tournament and the results are as follows:

Fourth      : Ahmad Justin

Next Saturday blitz tournament will be on 13 August 2011 at Giant Tampoi, Jb.

50th World Junior Chess Championship 2011 Pictures









Amidst a grand cultural bonanza unveiled by Velammal School children, the inaugural ceremony of the SDAT–RAMCO 50thWorld Junior & 29th Junior Girls Chess Championships 2011 took place at Vani Mahal, Chennai, here today.
A mixture of multiple themes viz., a small choreograph on Lord Krishna, Spanish salsa, Japanese ballet dance, Kerala specialty Mohini Attam, poi kaal kuthirai and Aadu puli aatam completed the amazing short term preparation and hand work of the Velammal trained kids.
Honorable Shri D Jayakumar, Speaker, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly inaugurated the event making the first move 1.e3 for which Viswanathan Anand replied ...e5. The TN Assembly Speaker, Shri D Jayakumar in his special address, extolled the sterling show of Anand for the past two decades in the top echelons of chess. He also recollected that Anand (1987) was a one time winner of this prestigious event and has done yeomen service to the game, by just remaining on top of the world for two decades".
Shri M Vijayakumar, IAS, Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu spoke briefly, mentioning that the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu strives to give the right climate to groom champions, and added that TN is poised to take off in all the sports in the next few years.
World Champion Viswanathan Anand, in his chief guest address said, "I won my world junior title after four attempts, but experience always helps in handling tougher situations. The Tamil Nadu Government has been a constant supporter to chess in the state and this time it has gone up one step Gelfand world and may as well host the world championship".
